DACOTA NEWS -DECEMBER 2020

This year, during the pandemic, we have encountered many hurdles. At times, we all have gotten discouraged and frustrated but hopefully, we keep looking for the silver lining and seize the opportunities when they presented themselves. One such a case was poetry, which used to be one of our summer community projects a few years ago. In 2020, we thought we could bring it back as a Virtual Project for social media and our website, during the holidays. The fact that some of our members are fabulous actors and perform regularly at the Reitz Theater, in DuBois, was an opportunity we couldn't miss.

We are excited to announce our 2020 ViRTUAL POETRY PROJECT coming up in December! We will be shocasing Christmas & Winter Poems by Sara Teasdale (Pulitzer Prize), Ruth Kephart & Robert Louis Stevenson to celebrate the holiday season. Our poetry series will continue in 2021 with poems by Maya Angelou, Pablo Neruda (Nobel Prize) and Sylvia Plath. We are delighted Ella Glabicki (based in LA), Cheryl Husted & Ashley Simpson-Neiger, all accomplished and seasoned actors graciously agreed to be part of this project. But wait,  there's more!... We added an extra artistic element by pairing each poem to an original painting created by three DACOTA artists for this Virtual Project.

On behalf of DuBois Area Council on the Arts (DACOTA), I would like to thank our friends and family, the DuBois Public Library, DuBois Downtown Businesses, members, artists and volunteers for your loyal and continued support during this challenging 2020.

May your Holiday Season be merry and joyful and the New Year, a safe and happy one!
